Re: Field Marshal Games Pieces Project Discussion thread

  • i dono thats why im asking im not to shuer about much right now

  • You didn’t miss a pre-order for Germany. When the Italians go out I believe he will take orders for Germany.

  • @FieldMarshalGames:

We are developing a relation ship with HistoricalBoardGaming.com.  We will do the main sets, and they will do all the expansions and additional sets.  This is very expensive and time consuming.  We are glad to have the Help.

This is good news indeed.  If your sets will be designed to complement each other, one thing that will need to be worked out is making sure that the size and colour / shade of the units match each other well, so they’ll be fully compatible.

  • Customizer

From the pics I have seen on HBG’s site and his Facebook page, the size looks to be compatible to OOB and FMG pieces, maybe even more so to FMG since I think they are just slightly larger than OOB.  Coach hasn’t gotten any finished color examples yet and exact color matching is very difficult, but I’m pretty sure he will get them color compatible as well.  Plus, since the HBG pieces are meant as a supplement to the FMG sets, it probably wouldn’t hurt if the color shading wasn’t 100% exact.  Basically, FMG is making the major part of the armed forces and HBG is making more specialized units.

Dang it!  Now I’m as anxious to see HBG’s pieces as I am to see FMG’s pieces.  Plus the new combat dice!  There is just too many things to want!  I’m going crazy with wanting stuff now!

  • same but you probably have money

The grey from the revised game are close to the shade of FMG grey dice.

  • Tomorrow is the first of June, so what is going on with our orders. Do we have another unexpected delay, or is victory just around the corner. I think as investors of a sort we are entitled to some kind of update good or bad. :?

I thought you showed us a picture of the final samples back on May 20.  Are you talking about actual complete sets delivered to you Monday?  Oooh, I’m shivering in anticipation.

Hey, on the tanks and armored cars, the ones with moveable turrets.  Do they come to you in two pieces and you have to put them together?  Or do they put them together at the factory before shipping to you?

  • Gosh I hope the other nations move smoother than the Italians. I am starting to lose my patience. FMG you have to be screeming the F word every time these guys have another delay. Stick with it I am sure they will be worth it.

This is more complicated that you think.  After all the wait and delays on getting the sculpts correct (you can see the revision history) and then making the mould (which had a defect and had to be redone), we then had to test different types of plastic.  Make the plastic to hard… you keep more detail but the peices become brittle, make it to soft, you lose detail and the units become to “bendy”.  The latest delay came from experimenting with several different types of plastic.

IN ADDITION, changing the type of plastic you also have to change the pantone (colour) code you use to match the dice.

This is all very complex and time consuming but it is the process required to make sure we deliver a product we can be proud of and that will stand the test of time.

As posted in the CALL TO ARMS thread, the pre-orders did not have a definitive release date.  It was made expressly clear that this was a INVESTMENT to aid the project.  All funds from pre-orders were spent on the mould and the process and I do not have these funds any longer.  This was a community based project and would not have happened if these investments were not made.

Paypal only allows refunds to be processed after 60 days of purchase.  A refund is no longer possible to a Credit Card etc…  If I am forced to process ANY refunds past the 60 days, it will be minus the Paypal processing fee that is non-refundable to us.  In addition, only those who made pre-orders will get product at the discounted rate of the pre-order, with the free set of ITALY dice, AND get some from the first batch that will be rushed AIR FREIGHT to us.

A new set of pre-orders will be posted once the product is released and these people will have to wait for thier product to arrive via OCEAN SHIPMENT in a container from overseas.

Please accept my apologies and understand our position on this. It was clearly posted as a PROJECT SUPPORT PRE-ORDER.

  • @Stickman:

<snip of=“” all=“” the=“” quotes=“”>Although posted as a PROJECT SUPPORT PRE-ORDER, Field Marshal Games has continued to support the idea that these Italian forces were in production and near to being completed. I will await one more month in good faith however after that I will seek a full refund, not through PAYPAL but through small claims court if need be. I’m sorry Jeremy but after reading all the excuses I can’t help but think that we are being led astray a bit. Whatever came of your supposed trip to the factory? And, after all this you still choose to deal with this company? Also why in the world are you already working on USA when the Italians aren’t yet done? Something really smells fishy here.</snip>

And this is precisely why companies do not do community based projects and never give out any pre-release information or allow any pre-production input.

Believe me, FMG is as frustrated as anyone at the delays that are out of their hands.  Why continue to deal with this company?  Because of the massive investment already made that would be LOST 100% if they cut it off now.  Investment that nobody can afford to lose!

And the US sculpts are being worked on because, as previously shown, the German sculpts are already completed (and sent off to produce the mould), so WHY on earth would anyone want him to hold off and wait, wait, wait some more when continued sets can come out faster by being prepared earlier?

No you didn’t just quote Kenny Rogers!  LOL , WOW!!!

If it weren’t for FMG this likely wouldn’t have happened at all.  I for one am THANKFUL to have these guys doing all this legwork and putting up with all the ney-sayers and production BS that I don’t have the time to.  These guys sacrificed a LOT to get this going in time and energy as well as I am certain personal funds.  Being a part of this is equivalent to being part of an IPO, also an American concept.

A few years back, I wanted a certain car that was a special production vehicle - were there unexpected delays?  Of course.  Factory re-tooling, parts back-orders, etc.  Was it worth it the day I drove it off the lot and stepped on the gas?  You better believe it!!  :-D

The point is, we all made a choice to bet on these guys and the product they’re putting together for people like us - I’ve waited 15 years for custom A&A pieces so a few months is painless - I am confident that the other nations will move MUCH faster once the bugs are worked out and the money is rolling in - that’s business.  Sorry you’ve lost patience dude…hang in there and I’m sure it will all be worth it.
