Well, the 3°ed rules (PC GAME 1998) still permit you to put a industrial complex in a neutral, but you can only make one unit on it.
Neutral countries
-
for the sake of asking, what all neutral territories does everyone take? there r 13, ill post my answer tonight when i actually have a board
-
I never take any nuetrals, its just a waste f IPCs
-
dont have a board to see clearly to make a valid argument but mongolia is a great place to capture, from there tanks can hit 12 different locations if im not mistaken, have to check for me until i get on tonight. that and spains good to take as the us bc they can afford the 3 ipcs, expand the area the germans have to defend while pulling resources back towards it. i dunno, works best if u have enough to hold and u just keep stockpiling bc then fighters have a place to land in europe although doesnt really matter if ya have an ac but thats another story all together. those r the only 2 i can see right off the top of my head but hey ill look tonight and hopefully have a better defense for mongolia and spain. bad thing is germans take spain they get gilb also
-
well I play Japan so my opinion is from that prespective and I dont take mongoli because by J2 I have sinking
-
again i dont have a map im here at the college but look at all the countries u can attack simultaneously w/ mongolia
-
not much point when I own all those countrys
-
As US, taking Spain can be an option to stretch out the german atlantic defenses.
-
i’ve taken spain in a good 1/4 - 1/3 of my allies games.
-
Spain - Good for getting troops into Europe if your short on transports.
Mongolia - Good for stretching the Russians out further.
Argentina - Connects to Brazil, scares Americans
Sweden - I’ve seen some germans retreat their Finland guys here with limited success
Switz - Japaneese IC can be useful. -
Switz - Japaneese IC can be useful.
But since Switzerland has no IPC’s at the beginning of the game, can Japan produce anything there?
-
Right from the rules…“New complexes on territories with no income values like Gib. or Soloman Islands or on neutral territories allow the introduction of one newly purchased item per turn.”
-
yup your right but what about one in sweden for japan
-
-
Which neutral country is probably the most useless? I’d have to vote for Eire. What do you guys think?
-
I guess it’s only way to become useful is to have situation where Russia still stands, but the UK have fallen. Then it can serve as a landing area for US planes…… but that use is very limited.
-
Personally, when playing Germany i find taking Turkey as a benefitial thing. Sure it costs IPCs, but it puts the British in a terrible condition in the Mid East, and leading to a easy victory between Japan and Germany :D
-
the most usless? Id have to say afganistan
-
Turkey can be very good to take. Swden ca be a real nuissance for the Allies as they try to dislodge Germany from there.
-
spain is a great choice if you attak WE and spain the same time
-
Most useful: probly Spain or turkey
Least useful: Afghanistan (maybe Ireland)
