If you could choose any TWO new unit sculpts, what would they be?

  • '18 '17 '16 '15 Customizer

Actually, it might be kind of cool to have some sort of leader sculpt; like a Roosevelt, Churchill, Hitler, Stalin etc…

You could move them with ships or aircraft, but if they are captured your country must save them or surrender. But your leader can be sheltered by an allied power. Or something similar… maybe an idea worth pursuing.

Just got the idea from a couple games we played where we found a Risk soldier in the game and he ended up becoming Churchill and sitting in England the whole game.

bring back the Hellcat and a Russian Artillery (not US artillery done in russian color)

Russian artillery was fantastic. They had such an array of guns. Is wrong they do not have their own sculpt.

This issue is addressed in E40 2nd ed… New USSR artillery sculpt included!

    that makes me happy

Those are the Rocco units and I’m kicking the Hell out of myself for not buying because if you go there now the link is blank. They were a bit smaller than the infantry in A&A but would be awesome.
Just do what I did and paint some heroes. I went with Comic book guys because I am a tremendous geek. Colossus for Russia, Captain America for USA. Etc etc…. Painting all your units might seem daunting at first but let me tell you that you WILL get pretty good with practice. I’m built for power and not finesse as anyone who met me at FMGC12 will attest but believe me if I posted pics of my Japanese guys who I did first and my FMG Italians or ANZACs which I did last you will see the progress. Give it a shot people. If you hate what they look like you can always reprint them in the OOB colors.
Also, check out a local hobby shop. They might have 1/72 units for these leaders and if not on the shelf they might have a catalogue where they can order them. Special units int he sizes we need are herded to find but with research you will succeed. FMG and HBG are awesome though and if you can get what you need there, and you mostly can, do it there.

I just got my HBG pieces this week. And I must say that I am a little disappointed with the scale, but otherwise they are very good. I feel like I can’t use most of them for A&A only because of the size difference… it would just look too odd. The US Escort carriers are perfect though!

I did not think to look for a leader type piece there, but it sounds like they are all gone now… unfortunately.

    Katyushas. Radar.

Both of those would be really cool. I would kill to have “radar” pieces for each nation!

  • @Gargantua:

    Bunkers and POW Camps!

    Nazi Mechs!

    Nazi Mechs!

This game has nice little mechs in various colours:

All they need is to have little German decals put on them.

Risk Metal Gear Solid also has nice mechs.

Just use Risk 2210 AD mechs…. bought mine from Amazon used at 15.00 bucks just for parts.

  • Hands down the first two new units would have to be a US Carrier aircraft (I vote for the Corsair) and a US Marine sculpt.

After that, the Russians should get some units to replace the generic Allied units such as the arty piece.  After that, I’d like the same for the UK; replacements for generic Allied pieces.  Only the Germans and Japan have full sets of unique pieces.

You might check out HBG’s website. They produced both an F-4U Corsair and a U.S. Marine “grunt” in their Marine set. Both are also available individually. Check out my “grunts” below.

  • Goodness gracious, they even include the USMC emblem on the individual bases.  I can’t imagine how long it must have taken to paint the figures at that level of detail.

    Hey dinosaur,
Thanks to the 1941 game, 1942 2e and 1940 2e games, all nations now have their own specific units for each unit. Russia has it’s own artillery and transport thanks to 1942 2e. The British have their own Mech Inf unit thanks to 1940 2e. The Russians have their own Aircraft Carrier and the British their own transport ship thanks to 1941. Also thanks to 1940 2e, Italy and ANZAC have ALL unique sculpts.
Sadly the only one left out now is France, which except for their cool Infantry is still using all Soviet sculpts.
I’m going to have to get busy and update my A&A pieces evolution thread.

Please note they did not come from HBG that way. Paul had them painted by Allworkandnoclay. Though, I can only hope you already knew that. Your comment was ambiguous enough to warrant clarification.

Yes, what I was referring to was the amount of work needed to paint the USMC logo from scratch on a blank plastic base.  I own some HBG Marine units and I know that their base has no imprinted Marine emblem on them.

I thought as much. My apologies if I insulted your intelligence.

    LHoffman,

Thanks for explaining to CWO Marc. I was just trying to point out that the two units he wanted were ALREADY available.

HBG and FMG have really made a LOT of impact on our A&A hobby with one word,…SELECTION!

  • “either that or Chinese P-40 and Chinese artillery.”

I’m with Yavid on those two.  Also, I’d like marines, paratroops, and transport planes in all nations’ colors.  Currently, I use a bomber with a blue poker chip under it to represent a transport plane, and a regular infantry with a blue poker chip to represent a paratroop.  I use infantry with green poker chips for marines.

    Plastic major and minor factories.

An anchor on a stand for naval bases, and maybe a windsock on a stand for air bases.  I just want something that doesn’t take up a lot of valuable real estate on small crowded territories, and doesn’t get buried under the other units, so you can still see it.

An anchor on a stand you say?
