Yeah but are they legally empowered to stop somebody showing their game? I mean - they’re just officials, right? What can they do - make a citizen’s arrest?

  • Official Q&A

Before you become a playtester, you must sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement.  This is a legal document that states that you agree not to make any information about the game public before either the publisher makes it public (releases or previews the game) or gives you permission to make it public.

This doesn’t allow the publisher to stop you from showing the game prematurely, but it does allow them to severely punish you with legal action for doing so.  Of course, aside from legal issues, there is also the moral obligation to honor any agreement that you have entered into with the publisher.  Violating the agreement would also ensure that you would never be a playtester again.

Thank you for explaining that, Krieghund.

Maybe a month after will be the announcement of it’s release. But you can bet the errata will be out the day of.

Well, for that we would be grateful - really enjoyed the AAP40 one.  :-)

As with the Pacific game, I would suspect that WotC will send a copy of the game to DJensen for him to preview right here on A&A.org about a month before it is due to be released to the public.

True…so late July we should have some pics of the board, pieces and material at least.  Maybe a peek at the global rules and such too.  Oh boy… only 4 looooooooooooooong months to go!!! :-(

I guess that means that your A&A 50 Anniversary Edition Reprint has been pushed back as well

The 50th anniversary reprint will come out after the 100th anniversary edition.

C’mon guys don’t give up hope yet on the AA50 reprint…Oh wait I forgot this is WOTC were talking about… OK then give up- I have. :? :-(

  • Questioneer, Weren’t you the leader of that cause?

  • @Yoper:

The whole A&A system is now based on the rules that were designed for AA50.  You need for that game to be in circulation to flesh out the A&A line up.  Base game= AA42, Advanced game= AA50, Theater specific/Global game= AAP 40, AAE 40, AA 40 Global.

My thoughts exactly, Yope.  I’m sad I got on the A&A bandwagon too late to get AA50 without having to pay hundreds of dollars for one of the collectibles now…  :-P

    Yes, he was.

And they actually gave an “official” answer saying that they were going to eventually reprint AA50.

Sorry Charles (squirecam), but I don’t think that they specifically were jerking us around and lied about a reprint while waiting for the AA40 games to come out .

They may have made a commitment to a reprint at the time and are now being forced to reevaluate it in light of other circumstances, but I think that they were sincere when they said it.  The problem is they have a track record of not doing what they say they will do.

They should reprint the AA50 game like they said they would do.  I can accept that it may take awhile for them to get to it, but they should follow through on their initial statement.

Well said my friend, that is exactly my feeling and thoughts.  Of course, you can’t call the reprint “Anniversary”- however you can change it to “Deluxe” version.

When or if they do reprint it you can probably see that:

    1. It will be cheaper- more like $60 bucks than $100 originally.

    2. Because it will be cheaper it will actually BE CHEAPLY MADE (don’t expect the nice components as in the first print- expect a lot of things to be “cheaped out” as far as material and components).

    3. At least we will have the reprint so I guess we can’t complain too much.  It is a great game with solid mechanics-one of the better versions if not the best. :-)

  • So what are you guys saying that there will or will not be a reprint?

  • Stay on topic. This is only a thread about when AAE40 is coming out. Talk about AA50 reprint in another thread.

We are just comparing past results when dealing with release dates.
