• Is it there any house-rule for surrounded armies? for example: surrounded armies should lost part of their combat capacity (for example, they shouldn’t be able to attack until they link with their supply lines)?
    thanks

This is very hard to implement in Axis and Allies due to the arrangement of the zones.

On a hex grid you can auto-destroy any army surrounded completely by the enemy.  Did this a lot in Rise and Decline of the Third Reich.  But in Axis and Allies, the territories are huge, those armies would find supplies somewhere, even if it was boiling their leather shoes and eating it for dinner coupled with throwing rocks and sticks at the enemy until relief came.

  • AARHE once had such a rule.

Basically the map has too few spaces so we have a concept called co-existing.

You attack for at least one round and then you can share the territory with the enemy. He gets 50% (rounded down) of IPC but can place if the territory is capable ( factory or VC)

ON his turn or your next turn your infantry ( and his) are stuck in this territory unless you commit to rid of the territory of the opponent completely. Or you can only withdraw the land units moving 2 spaces and disengage.

    so your choice is:

    1. leave it as it is no combat required
    2. withdraw just units moving 2 spaces
    3. attack and defeat the enemy

Also we had a rule where if at any time you have tanks and if they outnumber the defending infantry you can attempt to surround them and this allows the extra tanks beyond his infantry obtain a bonus die modifier in combat +1

so you got 6 tanks and hes got 3 infantry 2 art…. then 3 of your tanks get a +1

  • in the end the rule didn’t seem too useful for Axis and Allies

could be good for a more divided map though
actually, maybe Europe, Bludge, or D-Day already have such a rule or house rule
