My bombers die like flies. Props to the AA gunners:D

Two in a row anyway. Like getting snake eyes.

Well, you couldn’t have it all in that spot. But compared to how Japan looks like now, she would have been in way better shape for sure (even with better dice at Phil):)

In fact, I could have converged my fleets on SZ19 without needing to purchase anything. How depressing. Thinking about it now, I may have had that move in mind when I moved into that position. How depressing. I would have lost all the money islands except Sumatra. I’ll have to have a think about if it’s possible to save this game. Japan’s decline may not be salvagable. Those 11 planes on Norway are pretty scary. I think I should have defended against that landing better. With a French Normandy, it was a clear target.

Yes. Sz 19 may have worked, too. As this would have allowed you to merge fleets, maybe the better choice. Harbour might have been an option to stay strategically flexible.

The It mech did hit, too. Dangerous times for US bombers🤣
The 2 figs in china doing a better jon

Ok, that’s it. You win. gg.

I thought I’d take the 3% chance of retaking Southern France. I see what you’re doing there. Moving all those troops into Southern FranIn fact, I could have converged my fleets on SZ19 without needing to purchase anything. How depressing. Obviously, I needed to leave some mechs in W Germany to respond to such an attack but I was more worried about moving them into USSR. Germany will now be squeezed from 3 sides. If it wasn’t for allied fighters via Norway, I’d have had Moscow, by my calcs. Not that I feel it was particularly close. I largely lost this game J4 when I gave up the Philippines. Not completely sure why. A couple of other mistakes in Europe and I’m out of it.

That is what I meant to post. Obviously pasted in a previous post with a stray click.

Downside of holding on to Philippines J4 was that I would have had to abandon the 2TTs starting in SZ5. The 3ftr 1tac 2bomb you could hit it with was way too much for me to defend against. Still, better to defend the money islands in most cases. I guess that was why but my logic didn’t consider what the USN would do to me in later turns. Hmm, if I had have converged on SZ19 that may have been ok but conceding the Philippines is not great.

Oh and thanks for the game.

One other interesting point, is that in the other game where I declined to make the Yunnan attack, Japan became dominant around round 10. Maybe keeping the air alive is pretty important.

  • '15 '14

Thanks for the game. as you said, the first nail in the coffin was the Yunnan attack. Japan has to achieve something major when making such a sacrifice. This was not the case. India was still rather strong and the Chinese weren’t dead. Still had their fighter and even artillery. Russia could recover, too.

And as you said, the final nail was the US taking Norway because this allowed infinite fighter support for Moscow.

You might have had an attack at Moscow without Norway but I would have found ways to bring a bunch of fighters in anyway. Thus I think Axis would have needed huge dice at a Moscow attack, otherwise Germans would not have managed to go further after Moscow, especially as Japan was falling apart.

Good luck in your other games and thanks again for the game. You are a kind and nice opponent and a great sportsman.

    rematch with switched sides?

  • '19 '17 '16

    @JDOW Yeah, cool. Same bid?

  • '15 '14

I guess I have to give you the same bid, anything else would be Weasel-style:D

  • '15 '14

How do you want to spend your bid?

  • '19 '17 '16

I would presume so, so I’ll just nominate something.
