Patron Badges

There’s a plugin that will put badges or trophies on your profile page. I know you all love those tanks but what if we did something like this …

It would be in color, of course. We might even be able to put the tank on it too.

The prototype gold / silver / bronze medal-shaped badges certainly look good, and they fit well in this forum’s context because of their military theme. One thing I’m wondering is whether each badge would appear on a user’s profile page as many times as the user purchased it and with the support year indicated for each purchase (which would be my preference), or whether there would be a maximum of three badges (one for each type), with multiple-award bar icons (as is the practice for some military decorations) added below it to indicate how many times a badge of the category was purchased? This latter option wouldn’t be my preference…but if for technical reasons each badge category can only appear once, then a compromise solution would be to have the year element appear in the multiple-award bar icons, so that under each undated badge icon there would be a column of dated multiple-award bars.

Hi David. New forums look nice. Thank you for your time spent and attention to detail.

Did some searching but I cannot find any topics regarding migration of past year patron badges into the new format. Currently mine aren’t showing. My Customizer badge is there, but not the Patrons for some reason. If you or one of the other mods can figure that out for me I will go all in on 2018!

I’m starting to think more along these lines.

I’m debating with or without the date. The ribbon will have the details listed under it. The problem with the date is that it limits designs …

i don’t think so. Just shows more of a seniority type thing imo.

I once got a command coin for being above room temperature. I once got a good conduct medal from the same captain that wanted to court martial me. I don’t think that this is disrespectful at all. These are, in a way, Campaign Medals. Either you were there or you weren’t, so you get the ribbon or you don’t.

That said, I prefer simpler designs over more complex ones. I like designs 1 and 2 better than 3.

The third one was an example of what I couldn’t/shouldn’t do. :wink: I can work around the design limitations of having the dates. Now I just need to make 8 years worth of ribbons!

The first one is the regular one.
The second one for donating three years in a row or something like that.

They are coming out nicely and represent more then just a simple color.
