Not necessarily true.
A lot of people define a person as any being with human DNA who is not “brain dead”.
In that case, zygotes, embryos and fertilized eggs would be considered persons. Unfertilized eggs and sperm would not be considered persons.
However, I will concede that YOUR definition of a person excludes Zygotes and Embryos. Then again, if you are using your definition of person, there are a lot of people that are legally defined as persons who would not fit in your definition. Adolf Hitler used the definition of person, by trimming it down, to reclassify Jews as non-persons. Same with slave owners in Europe and America.
I’m not saying YOU are like Adolf Hitler or Slave Owners. I am just pointing out how redefining the word Person can be used to justify any atrocity against people you wish to inflict on them. It’s especially easy to inflict atrocities on those people that cannot even speak in their own defense (mentally handicapped, children, unborn babies, etc.) Especially those people that cannot only not speak up for themselves, but are not yet considered “cute”. (Ever wonder why we don’t eat Puppies and Kittens? Not because they’re poisonous to us! It’s because they are CUTE. We eat Cows and Potatoes because they are not CUTE and they are nutritious.)

I’ve never met a prolife atheist. Why do you think killing a twoday old fetilized egg is just as morally wrong as killing a 30 yr old mother of 3? A fertilized egg has none of the qualities that we assicoate with “personhood” (consciousness, memory, rationality, empathy, etc.), so why is terminating it as wrong as killing an adult that DOES have those qualities we identify with personhood?
Let me start off by saying that I am not going to debate or argue this position. It’s what I believe and amazingly enough, I don’t need to use religion as a cop out to explain my morality.
btw, if that’s the definition of a human life, we need to start clearing out all the assylums. Those people obviously aren’t human.
Even people clinically insane have consciousness, rationality (within their own strange belief system (i.e., the tin-foil hat will stop the govt from spying on me)), memory, and, in most cases empathy (though it may be weirdly misplaced).
A fertlized egg doesnt have ANY qualty we normally associate with “person”. Try it- think of a person, any person. I bet you weren’t thinking of a fetus or blastocyt :wink: If you only had one fire-truck and two fires (one at a fertility clinic the other at an orphanage), where would you send the fire truck?
The kindest thing you could say about it is that it will eventually become a person. But then I plan on eventually becoming a millionaire. What are the chances of me walkiing out of a bank with a $500,000 loan because I may someday become a millionaire?

Not much to tell. I was a male escort back when I was younger (fresh out of the Academy actually). I was young, USAF Academy D&C was ingrained into me, and I was built such that I was a pretty fair catch (still not bad, but not like I was 30 pounds ago…).

Bigotry and intolerance are still free speech. However, having the right to say something bigoted doesnt make it any less racist/sexist. I mean, you should still be allowed to say it, you should be allowed to scream it from rooftops, but it might not change the fact that whatever youre saying is intolerant.
And on religion: Im a highly skeptical agnostic. I wont say atheist beacuse thats just as much of a dogma as blindly following religion. I say highly skeptical because i really doubt in the existence of a god, especially the institutions put in place now with modern religions, but you just cant rule out the existence of some sort of force that set the universe in motion.

I agree, escorting wasn’t always about “sex”. Sometimes it was. But a lot of the time you are attached to someone who was from out of town, or a business function, or whatever to add status to them. Helps if you are articulate, well groomed, etc.

See, here’s the thing, I don’t hate anybody here. I like arguing, so naturally I tend to do so with people not of my own view. But I know, and hope B-lung will agree, that if I were ever in Omaha or BFE Nebraska or where ever the hell he is, we’d have a good time playing A&A, smoking a fatty, drinking some good stuff, and shooting the shit.
My views are liberal, but in many ways they are more conservative that many self-spoken conservatives out there. I’m all for personal responsibility, so I think consensual crimes should not be crimes at all (drugs, suicide, prostitution, etc.). In fact, I think many things should be legal, regulated, and even taxed, which would save an enormous amount on prison costs, bring in some revenue, hypothetically make it safer for all involved, and remove the criminal element from things like drug running and such. If you don’t like it don’t do it yourself, and especially don’t rail on it and then commit such acts a la Limbaugh.
