To be clear, any type of unit can hit any other type of unit unless the rules specifically state they can’t.
New player resources?

Hello, my friends and I are all new brand new players of the game. I bought A&A Spring 1942 at the recommendation of a game store employee as we were getting quite sick of the randomness associated with the game risk. We have only “played” a practice game so far and I was wondering if there was any writings out there to aid new players fully grasp the concepts of the game. Thanks in advance.

Welcome, BROsiah!
Be sure to check out the FAQ. It contains important errata and clarifications.

Also check out BGG. You can find some good resources there. I would stay away from the added tech stuff offered there and stick to the rulebook until you guys get the hang of it. Just my opinion.

I too am a new Axis & Allies player. My son (age 18) and I are really enjoying learning the Spring 1942 edition game, but we have GOT to get a bigger board. I’ve been seeing all sorts of great comments about printing upsized versions but I would really appreciate some guidance.
1. Where is the great map the IL has created? I know I should probably just look harder, but if someone has the link I’d really appreciate it.
2. Where is the best place to have it printed?
3. What is the best material?
(I know…I know…lots of opinions…someone just step in and TELL me what you recommend!)
Great form…looking forward to coming here often. And thanks for the help!

Here is a link with some good information. IL’s signature has the links for the bigger maps.
